Do you have Parkinsons?

 

Sarah is an NHS Parkinson’s Nurse specialist and British Nordic walking instructor. She trained with CEO Dr Catherine Hughes in 2019 and conducted a research study, investigating the impact of Nordic walking for people with Parkinson’s. Results were positive and she gained an MPhil from the University of Nottingham in 2024. Sarah delivers Nordic walking taster sessions and a Nordic walking class on Fridays at Colwick Lake, Nottingham. No experience is needed; poles are provided, and the first taster session is free.


 

 

 

What’s on offer?

A friendly Nordic walking class for people with Parkinson’s and their friends/ family. Beginners arrive early at 9.45am to learn the technique. The main class is at 10.30am for an hour, walking around a beautiful lake in Colwick country park. Coffee and chat afterwards. Open water swim and sauna are optional, with trained lifeguards who are experienced with people with Parkinson’s.
