Rossendale Venue Information
Here is some information about our 2 day INWA Nordic Walking Instructor course in Rossendale near Burnley. Both days begin at 9am and finish at 5pm with a break for lunch. You are welcome to arrive a little before this if you would like to settle into the venue.
Finding the venue:

Directions:
From the South East Or West: Up the M66 from M62. Carry on through Rawtenstall until you see ASDA on the left. Now move into the right hand filter lane. At cross roads with traffic lights you will see The Gate of India Restaurant in front of you. Turn Right up the hill and keep going until you see the Boar’s Head pub on your right. If you go down a steep hill with a bend in it to a crossroads you have gone too far. Turn Right at Boar’s Head down a narrow road There will be a sign on the left for St Nicholas Primary School turn down the lane and park at the school.
From the North i.e. Burnley, down to crossroads with the Gate of India on your right. Turn left up the road past the market and follow the same directions as above.
Refreshments & Lunch:
Lunch is not provided however, there is an ASDA in the centre of town where you can get sandwiches for Saturday and Sunday.
Places to Stay:
There are a number of local places to stay listed with Booking.com and Air BnB. We don't have any personal recommendations.
What to bring:
All training materials and Nordic Walking poles will be provided, although you are welcome to bring your own poles if you prefer.
- Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear, trainers or walking shoes are preferable to walking boots
- We will spend a good few hours a day outdoors, whatever the weather, so make sure you bring full waterproofs/sun cream
- It is good idea to carry some water and a snack, although try not to overload yourself
- Please also bring a pad and pen to make notes.
Tutor
Hamish Willis is the tutor for the course. Hamish loves working outdoors and combines Nordic Walking with orienteering coaching as well as running his own Strength and Conditioning classes.
The INWA course assessment will take place on the afternoon of day two, so you may wish to plan to set aside time do some preparation on the evening of the first day.
