Hello, my name is Julia Kraus and I have been a British Nordic
Walking Instructor for 6 years now. I love teaching people how to Nordic
Walk and seeing the difference it can make to their lives. Many of my
walkers have physical issues such as Osteoarthritis, Parkinson’s,
Cancer, hip and/or knee replacements, balance and mobility issues, and
issues relating to getting older. In other words, normal people with
normal issues! I always tailor my teaching to each individual’s needs offering
1:1 classes initially, but always with the aim of integrating them into
my group walks as these are fun, uplifting and by far the best way to
enjoy a walk. We laugh, chat, put the world to rights and always have a
coffee/tea at the end.
I am currently working with a Bath based
Cancer Charity teaching people at various stages of the disease. Whilst
this has its challenges it is also hugely humbling and hugely fulfilling
and has really helped to fine-tune my teaching skills.
I have
also taught numerous people with Parkinson’s and feel confident that
this is an area in which I am now reasonably experienced. I completed
the British Nordic Walking Course for teaching people with Parkinson’s
and other neurodegenerative diseases and have also completed their
course on Balance & Mobility.
What’s on offer?
1:1 Beginners and Refresher sessions
Group Beginners and Refresher sessions
Specialist Parkinson’s sessions
Regular and varied group walks in and around Bath but always tailoring my walks to the abilities of my walkers.
