Exercises for Parkinsons

It isn’t always possible to get out Nordic Walking with a group but that doesn’t mean you can’t put your Nordic Walking poles to good use.

Follow these videos to use around – or instead of – your Nordic Walk.

 Indoor Videos

If you are doing these exercises indoors, please make sure that you have enough space to so do safely. If you like, you can have a chair nearby as some exercises can be done seated if this suits you best.

Cool down videos

The exercises are based on the Nordic Walking technique taught by British Nordic Walking and the International Nordic Walking Federation. They have been adapted where appropriate to be especially suitable for people living with Parkinson’s so they are known to be safe for you to do.

However, as with any exercise program, if at any point during your workout you begin to feel faint, dizzy or have physical discomfort, you should stop immediately. If necessary you should consult with your doctor or relevant medical professional before undertaking this exercise programme. You are also welcome to pause the video at any point if you start to feel tired or need a drink of water.

Do build up your effort during this video at a pace that suits you and don’t over-exert yourself. Feel free to concentrate on what suits you and leave out anything that isn’t comfortable for you.
