About NicolaAsher

I am a qualified British Nordic Walking Instructor, accredited to use the INWA (International Nordic Walking Federation Association) 10 Step method of training.

A little bit about myself: my brother has Parkinson’s so this led me to want to do more to help others. I provide Nordic Walking sessions for free on a voluntary basis for those with Parkinson’s.

What is Nordic Walking?

Nordic walking is a low-impact, full-body workout that improves strength, fitness, and overall well-being. Learn the fundamentals of Nordic walking with the INWA 10-step method.

What’s on offer? :

For those with Parkinson's, it can help build more confidence in walking, improving stride length, co-ordination, strength, balance and posture....and getting out with others to have a fun time!

All ability levels are welcome, you will need to book onto a session so I can ensure that I provide some poles for you to use. You can use my poles until you are ready to buy your own. Please feel free to come along, join the group to see if this is for you, you’ve nothing to lose by trying it! This is a great outdoor activity to build strength, confidence, get fresh air, mix socially in a group if you wish.

I am also qualified in:

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Improving Personal Exercise, Health and Nutrition

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health

I currently use two locations for the sessions, Herrington Country Park in Sunderland and Souter Lighthouse in South Tyneside. Both have good parking facilities and have café/facilities close by.
