Eric Grindle and Katrina Wilkinson-Grindle

Nordic Walking Instructors  and REPS L2 Certificate in Fitness Walking

Eric - I have been involved in instructing and coaching Outdoor Education activities for over thirty years, including watersports, Kayaking, Canoeing and Swimming, alongside Rock Climbing and more general mountain based activities such  as Mountain Walking, Expeditions and Navigation.  This work has taken me to many places in the UK, Europe, Africa, India and Nepal.  My professional career has been within Youth and Community Services and Outdoor Education.  The many years of working outdoors has taken it's toll, I have had both of my hips replaced. As part of the preparation and recuperation for the hip replacements I took up Nordic Walking, becoming a Nordic Walking Instructor in 2017and YMCA Fitness Walking Leader in 2018.  The qualifications add to my Outdoor portfolio of Coaching Qualifications - Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing, Canoeing, Swimming and First Aid.

Katrina - I have been involved in amateur athletics and outdoor activities throughout my life.   While my children were young I qualified as a KFA teacher and  taught Keep Fit for 6 years, then went on to Graduated from Edgehill College with a BA Hons in Urban Policy studies and Race Relations and Physical Education Minor.   And, then a Post Grad. Diploma in Youth and Community Studies at Manchester Polytechnic.    I went into a career working with children and young people and then working with vulnerable families and more recently working part-time with Severely autistic  teenagers.

Nordic Walking was a natural progression for me combining athletics, staying fit for life and my interest in long distance walking challenges.

We are both actively support The Duke Of Edinburgh Award

We both strongly believe in the  'Sport for all and life' philosophy  and making activities accessible   both for Well being and/or personal challenges, and most of all play and having fun.
