Course Joining Instructions – St Illtyd’s Church, Llantwit Major

Thank you for booking your Nordic Walking Instructor course with us at British Nordic Walking. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to historic Llantwit Major for an inspiring and practical weekend of Nordic Walking training.

Course Times

The course runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm on both days.
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early (by 8:45am) to allow time to settle into the venue, make a cup of tea, and meet the other participants.


What's Included

We’ll provide everything you need to get started:

  • Your official British Nordic Walking Instructor manual

  • Nordic Walking poles (if you don’t have your own)

  • Tea, coffee, and plenty of good cheer!


What to Bring

To stay comfortable and make the most of your training, please bring:

  • A packed lunch for both days - there are also local cafes, bakery and supermarket within a short walk of the venue

  • Plenty of layers and spare outdoor clothing (we train outdoors, rain or shine!)

  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)

  • Walking shoes with a good grip, try and avoid heavy walking boots that don’t flex but make sure you shoes will stay dry. We walk mostly off road on grass or footpaths 
  • A notepad and pen

  • And of course, your enthusiasm!


Meeting Point

The course is held in the Galilee Chapel of St Illtyds Church. Look for the glass doors and come on in and up the stairs. There is a kitchen where you can make drinks and put food in the fridge. Look for your instructor, Karen Ingram, in British Nordic Walking kit. Final contact details will be emailed before the course in case of any issues on the day.


How to Find It / Parking

  • The church is located on College Street in the centre of Llantwit Major.

  • Free street parking is available nearby. There is also a public car park on Boverton Road (CF61 1XZ), about a 5-minute walk from the church.

  • Please leave enough time to park and walk to the meeting point.

  • By Train: Llantwit Major station is just a 10-minute walk from the church, with connections from Cardiff and Bridgend.

  • By Bus: Local bus routes serve the town centre and stop close to College Street.

  • By Taxi: Taxis are available from nearby towns or can be pre-booked.
