My Story

I started Nordic Walking in 2009 whilst preparing for the annual Pathfinder Long Distance Walk (46 miles) in June 2009, I was doing this in aid of ‘Help for Heroes’. During my initial training I started to get severe pain in an old lower leg Ski injury, someone suggested Nordic Walking as the Poles help to support the joints and any leg injuries; I was amazed that after only one 4 mile walk with Nordic Walking Poles I was nearly pain free.

I completed my first Pathfinder Walk in 13 Hours 28 minutes and have subsequently completed three more plus numerous other Charity Walks (British Heart Foundation, Kidney Research, Papworth Hospital Trust and others).

Being impressed in how Nordic Walking helped me, I became an Instructor at the end of 2009 and have been running Nordic Walking Beginner/Introduction Classes in and around the Huntingdon and Cambridgeshire area for nearly 5 years. A number of my walkers have returned to Nordic Walking quite soon after Hip and Knee surgery and they put that down to being fit when they went into the operating theatre and speedy recovery after surgery.
