My Story

I have always enjoyed being active and taking part in outdoor pursuits including trail running and cycling.  I first came across Nordic walking when I was working for a charity that supports those affected by Cancer, and learnt about all the great benefits people had from walking in this way, but it wasn’t until a day walking trip with my Dad across the Malvern Hills that I felt the benefits for myself.  I was totally amazed by what happened to my body.  Normally when hiking with a day bag my hands would swell and my upper back and neck would ache, but this didn’t happen at all!  In fact I felt so strong in my upper body and abdominals it seemed to have improved my posture.  That was it I was hooked!  When I moved to the Forest of Dean I wanted to spend more time out in the trees it just seemed like the perfect time to become an Instructor and I feel that Nordic Walking complements my Clinical massage practise.

I am now able to offer Nordic Walking classes in the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and surrounding Monmouthshire area and work extensively with people with rehabilitation, MS or those living with Cancer.  I hope to set up a mentoring scheme to encourage younger walk leaders……but this is work in progress.

I am an Exel Nordic Walk pole retailer and can help you to source the right pole for you.
